Mark Strauss on the ESV & Literal Translation

Wayne Leman has been given permission from Mark Strauss to post his ETS paper on the ESV on the Better Bibles Blog.

Its definitely worth your time if you’re interested in Bible Translation.

  1. As I commented over there, after this critique and the one by Rod Decker, an update of the ESV should be quite substantial, no?

    that is, if they listen… and hear.

  2. Sadly, Dr. Decker’s review of the ESV is four years old as of this ETS conference and there was a minor revision in 07 (that’s where the sheep stopped being in charge of Laban’s sons), but it was an extremely minor revision. You can see:

    Unlike the NLT, where Tyndale provided a complete list of the changes, the only reason this record exists is because of the work of Rick Mansfield.
