Rod Decker’s Passing

Many of you like have already seen the announcement at ntresources.com, but it is worth sharing here as well. Rod Decker passed away this morning. His family has a tribute to him on his blog. I knew Rod for several years, but I don’t think I could express things better than his family did. So I won’t try. Instead, I point you to there:

  1. This bothers me because he was one of the mature voices on complicated topics. It’s like being on a project team at a critical point, and one of your go-to people has left for another job. I hope to follow his example.

    1. One of the things I appreciated about Rod Decker and his work was that he never viewed language study as a means to an end, a stepping stone toward another related domain of NT studies that was ‘more interesting.’ He recognized that grammatical research had it’s own inherent value. We need more of that in biblical studies.
